MHS boys take first at Beloit Relays

The Minneapolis boys dominated the 2-1A division of the Beloit Relays last Friday, taking first place as a team with 95 points. Kenton Lonberger led the Lions with first place finishes in the 100m dash (11.10), 200m dash (22.99) and 110m hurdles (15.03). He placed a close second in the 300m hurdles with a time of 41.18.

Kyle Lonberger took first in the 400m dash with a time of 52.25 and Ryan Wedel took second at 53.29. The 400m relay of Trayer Gassman, Kyle Lonberger, Jared Schmidt and Ryan Wedel captured first place in 44.51. The 1600m relay with Spencer Brown, Jamel Townsend, Ryan Wedel and Kyle Lonberger also won the gold with a time of 3:38.10. Cameron Knox placed second in the shot put with a throw of 52'7½ ".

The Minneapolis girls, who scored a total of 12 points, were led by Audra Atwell who placed third in the 100m hurdles with a time of 16.76 and third in the 300m hurdles with a time of 51.46.

 

Lions compete at Southeast

The Minneapolis Lions endured the cold as they competed in the Southeast of Saline track meet on April 25. But the cold proved to be no problem for Kenton Lonberger who captured four gold medals for the day.

Lonberger won the 100m dash with a time of 10.79, the 200m dash in 22.96, the 110m hurdles in 16.02, and the 300m hurdles in 42.33. Ryan Wedel brought home the gold with a jump of 20'9½" in the long jump, and finished third in the 400m dash with a time of 53.14. Cameron Knox placed first in the shot put with a throw of 50'7", second in the discus with a throw of 134'9", and third in the javelin at 135'2". The boys 400m relay with Trayer Gassman, Jamel Townsend, Jared Schmidt and Ryan Wedel took third with a time of 46.17.

In the girls competition Audra Atwell captured two gold medals, winning the 100m hurdles in a time of 17.16 and the 300m hurdles in 51.87.

 

BHS competes at Belleville, KU Relay

BHS track team competed at Belleville's Lions Club invitational meet Tuesday, April 18th. The boy's team placed 6th with Lawson Montgomery placing 1st in the 110m hurdles and Craig Koster winning the 800m. The 4x800m relay team of Jennifer Butler, Lauren Cherry, Sarah Hicks and Jordan Fief placed fourth and Grace Freeman won the gold in the discus.

Some members of the girls BHS track team participated in the KU relays. April 21-22. The highlight of the weekend was the 4x400m relay team of Lauren Cherry, Sarah Hicks, Jordan Fief and Jennifer Butler placing seventh in the Sunflower Showdown.
